pews. free. take one.

i listened to president monson's talk for the byu devotional yesterday during work. something about his voice makes me feel like "home." maybe it's because his voice makes me think of conference, and most memories of conference include me curled up in a pew with my mom, andy, and liz eating easter candy as a light rain brushes the chapel doors. good ol' franklin. life is simple there. president monson talked about each president of the church, sharing their favorite foods - bread and milk, apple pie and ice cream, alaskan crab. he'd tell a story of each one, one in particular where a coat was given to a cold man in the street. their favorite scriptures were all about humility and love. i was caught up in the snapshots of the men he described... each one so warm, giving, and genuinely happy. while contemplating monson's reason for delivering such a simple and seemingly irrelevant talk, i realized that it couldn't get any more significant than that. we all need more days full of pews, rain, and candy... that end with us giving some of it away.

I miss Franklin. You. and everything simple...

although I took the time to bike by myself to my favorite lookouts and spots on campus and I just sat there at each one looking and dreaming and taking pictures. Wish you could have gone too!
