i'm eating a warm turkey and cheese sandwich while listening to "the family man" and doing callbacks at work. my office is warm and a light snow is falling outside my window; i'm watching it in the reflection from the glass front of a picture on the wall ahead of me. "everybody needs something..." "well, what do you need, jack?" i love nicholas cage. i know of only two other people who feel the same: andy and sam. nic's character, jack, loves money. "i have everything i need." he's what andy has called liz's christmas tree and what sam calls me because i never cry - soulless.
my mom just called me. she wants me to help her take little treats when i'm home at christmas to the members in the franklin ward. i miss them. a lot. they are among some of the most soulful people i know. why? because they are real. they are genuine. we were asked in church yesterday what characteristic we would most like to be remembered for as a member of the church*. charitable, loving, hopeful, faithful, forgiving, etc. were all among the shared answers. i realized that every one of the characteristics shared could be faked, looked down at my blank paper, and wrote "genuine." so franklin ward, treats you deserve, and treats you shall have.
man, this sandwich is good.
*(i cringe at questions like these because the answers are bound to be wonderful while the question itself is selfish, making us think we are being wonderful when in fact we shouldn't be contemplating such things - if people think we are great members of the church or not. i could write a whole post on just this.)

Andy is understandably particular about ye olde Christmas tree. I'm kind on the fence about Nicholas Cage. On one hand, Family Man. On the other? Ghost Rider. Really. Ghost Rider.
have fun at home! i wish i was going home.
